Here at nolacrazycatlady.com, we believe every cat has a story, and every story is worth telling. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on a true testament to resilience and sweetness: the one, the only, Boots!
Boots’s story begins with a rocky start. She, along with her sister Tigress and another sibling, was born on April 12, 2016, to a local stray cat who sadly abandoned the litter. In their most vulnerable time, they needed a hero, and they found one in our family. We swooped in, bottle-fed the tiny trio around the clock, and watched them grow from helpless newborns into playful, curious kittens.
After a few months of love and care, they were all vetted and spayed, ensuring they would have long, healthy lives. While one of the kittens found a wonderful forever home elsewhere, Boots and Tigress knew they were already home.
Now, Boots is living her absolute best life. And let me tell you, this girl knows how to live! She’s what we lovingly call a “chunky kitty,” a perfect, plush package of cuddles. But don’t let her serene demeanor fool you; beneath that soft exterior lies the heart of a fierce huntress… at least when she wants to be!
Boots is as sweet as can be and has two main modes: affectionate lovebug and playful goofball. She’s a master of the infamous “belly display,” flopping over with utter abandon to show off her fluffy tummy. It’s a sign of ultimate trust and contentment, and we are honored every single time.
Lately, her favorite pastime is a game we’ve dubbed “Jingly Ball Rally.” My son and I will sit on opposite ends of the room and roll one of those irresistible jingling cat balls back and forth across the floor. Boots’s tactics are hilarious and unpredictable. Sometimes, she’ll go into full stalker mode, wiggling her behind before pouncing and chasing the ball with lightning speed. Other times, her strategy is… different.
Her favorite move is to simply plop herself down, belly-up, right in the middle of the action! She’ll lie there between us, a furry speedbump of joy, and try to catch the ball as it zooms past her with her outstretched paws. Whether she’s actively chasing it or just “participating” from the center of the universe, she is 100% involved and having the time of her life. It’s her game, and we’re just living in it.
Much like our other cat, Daisy, Boots is a bit of an introvert when it comes to her feline siblings. She prefers her peace and quiet and isn’t looking for a cuddle pile with the other cats. But when it comes to humans? She’s all in. She thrives on human attention and affection, and will reward you with purrs, headbutts, and that magnificent, trusting belly.
Boots is a beautiful reminder that a rough start in life can lead to a wonderfully happy and loving forever. She’s our bottle-fed baby, our chunky monkey, and our playful, belly-up goofball. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
